Pumpkin Cinquain

Maren wrote a cinquain as a school project. As I just discovered this poem form myself a couple months ago, I am so proud! The format of a cinquain (or five-line poem) is as follows:

Line 1: One word, subject or noun
Line 2: Two words, adjectives that describe line one
Line 3: Three words, action verbs that relate to line one
Line 4: Four words, feelings or a complete sentence that relates to line one
Line 5: One word, synonym of line 1 or a word that sums it up

She made a word bank, then found a thesaurus word for each word she had thought of. She made a rough draft. And here is the final product. I love to see the way her mind works.

FALL (version 2)

When I...

HEAR birds song is over and
SEE red leaves and
TOUCH dead bugs and
SMELL pie and
TASTE beets...

I know it's FALL!
